Please join us on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the final day of RUSH BAKER IV: Landscapes, for a gallery Q&A with the artist, Rush Baker IV and curator, Camille Brown.

Rush Baker IV (American, Born, 1987) received a BFA from The Cooper Union for Advancement of Science and Art in 2009 and an MFA from Yale University in 2012. He was recently awarded the 2024-25 Grant Wood Fellowship at The Grant Wood Art Colony of the University of Iowa, which will culminate in an exhibition in Spring 2025. Baker’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is represented in numerous private and institutional collections, including the International African American Museum, Charleston, SC, The Phillips Collection, Washington DC, and The Studio Museum in Harlem. Baker lives and works in Hyattsville, MD.

Camille Brown is Assistant Curator at the Phillips Collection. Brown has held curatorial positions at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She holds degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans and New York University. Brown has recently received a Teiger Foundation grant to support the Phillips Collection's 2025 exhibition Essex Hemphill: Take care of your blessings.

Since 1998, the ART TALKS series at Hemphill has included educational lectures on topics such as collecting for beginners, artist talks, and panel discussions on issues in contemporary art.
