Jacob Kainen needs no introduction. His contributions as an artist and scholar are well known. His interest and robust output of works on paper and prints represent a significant achievement. Beginning in the late 1930s, his street scene etchings in hard graphic black ink carried the grist of hard times; in the 1940s, influenced by Japanese prints, his work opened into full abstraction. Mid-career and beyond, printmaking became a playground for his experimenting with color and forms, creating a beautiful correspondence with his paintings.
Jacob Kainen, a prolific printmaker, left us with a wealth of work. We are offering our favorite collectors and fans of the gallery a summertime opportunity to acquire a Kainen print at a discounted price. See below:
